Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation: PM&R physicians are known as Physiatrists who are specialists trained in restoring function to the patient. Their non-surgical approach works to restore or maximize the functional skills, mobility, strength, and self-sufficiency of patients who have either temporary or permanent disability.
A PM&R physician education consists of four years of medical school followed by and additional four years of hospital based residency program. The diagnostic tools used by a PM&R physician are similar to those found in other medical specialties; history & examination, X-ray, MRI and electrodiagnostic testing (EMG/NCV) which measures electrical activity of the nerve/muscle.
Westbury Total Health Care’s soul purpose is to provide exceptional, progressive and cost-effective orthopedic rehabilitation through personalized care that emphasizes patient education and prevention of future injury.
We provide structured rehabilitation programs to enable the patient to manage their complex problems. The rehabilitation programs are patient centered and goal driven enabling the patient to play an active part in their rehabilitation, empowering them to make informed decision throughout the whole process. The neurological rehabilitation team determines patients’ individual strengths and weaknesses, suitability for the program and specific rehabilitation goals. Diet, exercise, and being more aware and walking with great care are all part of a total treatment plan.

Post Operative Cases
There is a time for protective healing and a time for aggressive rehabilitation. We walk the patient through this continuum to help make your surgery as successful as possible.
Stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson's disease, vestibular disorders, etc. We have a strong background in helping you achieve your optimum functional levels.
We are a Medicare facility who appreciates the needs not only of the young, but also the young at heart.
The younger patients need to be properly motivated to rehabilitate successfully. We know how to make physical therapy fun for kids, healing and not even realizing they are working.
Spine & Extremities
Our physical therapists are all trained in the latest, most effective techniques to assist patients in achieving their goals. From neck pain to herniated discs, low back pain, to sciatica, we know how to help people get back to their daily routines as quickly as possible.
The best way to treat injury is to prevent it from happening. We can set up programs for balance, agility, body mechanics and general conditioning to help the healthy person remain that way. Those programs are offered on a cash basis.
We are experts in treating the workers compensation patient to help him or her return to work as quickly as possible. Not only do we treat the injury, but we look at the course of injury, and offer suggestions to the patient and the employer about ways to prevent future incidents.
